Thank you to all the designers who participated in the Ooprint Holiday Greeting Card Design Competition. We were very impressed by the quality and creativity of the cards that were submitted. We received over 150 entries, and our designers came from 16 countries: Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, England, Finland, France, Hungary, India, Madagascar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, United States, and Wales.

The best-selling card will be awarded the Grand Prize of $1000. The Jury Prize of $500 will be awarded based on design merit and decided by the ooprint team. Both winners will be announced on January 15, 2008.

Who is ooprint?

Ooprint is an international online printing company. On our websites our customers have access to thousands of different graphic models for products such as business cards, greeting cards, birth announcements, correspondence cards etc. which they can personalize online with their own text, logo, photos, and images.

Ooprint Design Competition... over $5000 in prizes!

With the holiday season quickly approaching, ooprint is launching its first ever design holiday greeting card design competition.

The idea: create a greeting card with the theme Happy New Year 2008 or Happy Holidays (Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa etc.) that will be offered for sale online on the Ooprint websites.

All submissions which are selected by our artistic director & team will be put online for sale by ooprint.

Among those selections, the best-selling design will receive the Grand Prize, a check for $1000 and of course, will be sold on our ooprint sites, credited to the designer.

Another design will be chosen by our artistic jury, based on design merit. The 2^nd Prize will receive a $500 check and of course, will be sold on our ooprint sites, credited to the designer.

The other finalists will receive a $50 ooprint gift coupon and their designs will be sold on our ooprint sites, credited to the designer.

The Competition

Theme:

You can create a card on the theme Happy Holidays, or Happy New Year 2008. The style is yours to decide, so be creative! However, remember that our customers, often international businesses, will decide the winning card...

Internationalisation:

Ooprint has customers all over the world, who speak different languages. It is therefore important to design your card so that the text can be easily adapted into other languages. For example, create a multilingual card with “Happy New Year” or “Merry Christmas” in different languages.

Format:

16 cm x 16 cm folded/ 4 pages. See our example:



File specifications:

• Your design must be created to fit the final card size (16 cm x 16 cm). There is no need to specify trim size or bleed size
• Place one image per page (4 images for 4 pages total on the final card), no need to impose your images onto a model
• File format: high resolution PDF, in CMYK color mode (no pantone tones)
• Maximum file size: One PDF file with 4 images, less than 1.5 MB

Rights:

You must own the user rights to any images, illustrations, photos, or any other component of your design.

Fonts:

As you will notice, our Greeting Card models and customizable products feature two types of text:

• Fixed text/ text in image form
• Customizable text in the “text fields” which allows our ooprint customers to personalize his/her cards with their own text (ex: personal message, address, company name etc.)

For the customizable text in the text fields, it is important to use a font that is recognized by the ooprint system. Here is the list of acceptable fonts:

Note: You do not need to make the text in your design “customizable”, our graphic designers will do that for you when we add your card to our online catalogue. However, it is important to imagine your design with different texts added by our customers.

Deadline

Your designs must be submitted by midnight on November 30, 2007.

Your files must be sent by email to . If your submission is selected as a finalist, we will contact you immediately and add your card to our websites. Please be sure to include your contact information in your submission email: full name, telephone number, email address etc.

Note: The sooner you submit your designs, the sooner they will be put online for sale if chosen. This allows you more time to gain sales and gives you a greater chance of winning the grand prize, so submit your designs now!!

Who can participate in this competition?

Anyone who wants to win! There is no age limit or geographic restriction.

Important : You may submit as many designs as you would like in order to have a greater chance at winning!

Results

The results of the Ooprint Design Competition will be published on this page ooprint.com/competition and on our blog blog.ooprint.com starting Monday December 5, 2007.

There can be as many finalists featured as there are good design submissions! The names of the Grand Prize and 2^nd Place winners will be announced on January 15, 2008.

In the case that no design submissions are of the quality necessary to be included in the ooprint online catalogue, ooprint reserves the right to cancel the competition and distribution of prizes.
